Cornelia Badelita

Born in Romania in 1982, Cornelia Badelita is a graduate of Turin’s prestigious Albertina Academy of Fine Arts where she is now a teacher of Graphic Arts.

Her current work centers on the innovative use of ink stamps and has its roots in her study of drawing and etching. A consummate draftswoman, Badelita painstakingly constructs her paintings via the repeated use of a self-made stamp dipped in ink. The stamp is usually a word or phrase specifically formulated to give an ironic twist to the meaning of the completed image. Badelita considers her technique doubly effective in that it unites the force of the visual image with the power of the word.

In 2011, Badelita took part in the 54th Venice International Art Biennale.
