Fabrizio Carotti

Fabrizio Carotti was born in the Italian town of Jesi in 1980 and holds a degree in philosophy from the University of Bologna.

Carotti is a digital artist who uses his own carefully staged photographs as the basis for his compositions. In 2011, he was selected to take part in the 54th Venice International Art Biennale with a work exhibited at the regional Italian Pavilion in Urbino.

Carotti typically employs Caravaggesque images to explore the themes of pain, abandonment, loss and the suspension of time. The rich mix of literal impact and underlying meaning allows the viewer to evaluate Carotti’s images on different levels and imbues his work with strength and staying power.
