NIGHT CHANT

RvB Arts is proud to present NIGHT CHANT featuring the new works of young Italian artist Alessandro Sicioldr.

Born in 1990 in Tarquinia, Alessandro Sicioldr began drawing and painting under the guidance of his father, himself a noted artist. A fascination with pigments and painting-supports led Sicioldr to Cennino Cennini’s Il Libro dell’Arte (The Craftsman’s Handbook), the famous guide to 15th century methods of painting and the great masters’ secrets and techniques, subsequently adopted by Sicioldr in his own work.

Despite his young age, Sicioldr has participated in several solo exhibitions across Italy as well as group exhibitions in Europe and New York where he has generated great interest with his highly personal and individual style. Works in oil, watercolour and graphite reveal his remarkable technical skills, his interdisciplinary studies and his visionary capacity. Blending the imaginary, historical and symbolic with a personal vision, Sicioldr creates fascinating dreamlike atmospheres.

RvB Arts is a Rome gallery specializing in affordable, original contemporary painting, sculpture and photography by young, emerging artists. It organizes exhibitions and events throughout the year in its galleries at Via delle Zoccolette 28 and Via Giulia 198. With many of its artists winning awards, participating in such prestigious events as the Venice Biennale and moving quickly out of the ‘affordable’ bracket, RvB Arts is building a strong reputation for scouting new talent.

PRESS RELEASE

Fantasy and surprise are key elements in the new exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Roman artist FANTINI entitled se vedi due rinoceronti… (if you see two rhinos…). The artist seeks to draw attention in his own way to the plight of the rhino, by helping us re-discover the animal through the innocent eyes of childhood, putting the emphasis on the sheer wonder and joy that the sight of such a creature should generate in the observer.

Born in 1960, Roberto Fantini has had a long and varied career in the arts, working as a professional ballet dancer, actor and photographer as well as painter and sculptor. He spent 14 years traveling and living outside Italy, a period that included long sojourns in Asia and in particular Tibet, before returning to Rome in 2000. Fantini’s travels have had a powerful impact on his work, contributing to a primitif quality reminiscent of ancient tribal art.

Fantini’s images rely on an elaborate layering technique which is often combined with cloth insertions. His trademark black outlines and simplified areas of color create an authenticity that speaks directly to the viewer and has won him a large following in Italy and abroad.

RvB Arts is a Rome gallery specializing in affordable, original contemporary painting, sculpture and photography by young, emerging artists. It organizes exhibitions and events throughout the year in its permanent galleries at Via delle Zoccolette 28 and Via Giulia 198.
