Luca Zarattini was born in Codigoro in northern Italy in 1984 and is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. Increasing support for Zarattini's talent from critics, galleries and collectors has led to a series of important exhibitions and awards for the artist. In 2013, Rome's institutional space The House of Architecture commissioned him to create a large-scale work dedicated to Italo Calvino.
Zarattini's current work centres on bold, colourful collages whose powerful impact derives from his original, complex layering technique. As ever, the artist combines traditional subjects with the experimentation of materials, creating an intriguing dialogue between the past and present.
