Christina Thwaites is an emerging artist who currently lives in Australia. Born in Sheffield, England in 1980, she holds an M.A. in French Literature and History of Art from The University of Edinburgh.

Thwaites has shown her work in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Her most recent paintings have been shown in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and in group exhibitions in two prestigious Rome venues: the Palazzo delle Esposizioni and the MACRO (the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome).

Thwaites’ paintings are frequently inspired by images from old family photo albums. Bold and vivacious, these works are characterized by a strong satirical vein that is both humorous and touching. Past-Times combines artwork created while Thwaites was still living in Italy with some of her latest pieces made in Australia specifically for RvB Arts.

RvB Arts is a Rome gallery specializing in affordable, original contemporary painting, sculpture and photography by young, emerging artists. It organizes exhibitions and events throughout the year in its permanent galleries at Via delle Zoccolette 28 and Via Giulia 198. With many of its artists winning awards, participating in such prestigious events as the Venice Biennale and moving quickly out of the ‘affordable’ bracket, RvB Arts is building a strong reputation for scouting new talent.

RvB Arts shares space with the Antiquariato Valligiano – a fixture on the Rome antiques scene since 1982. It specializes in furniture and collectibles from the Italian Alpine valleys with a tasteful, rustic quality. Its inventory changes regularly making every visit a new adventure.
